History

JERSEY history - here, in its stones. From a cave of Lya-Kott which 250.000 years, to neolytic dolmens and dwellings of ancient Scandinavians, or Normans as their began to call after they occupied Normandy and the Channel Islands. The sixth duke of Normandy Wilhelm won England in 1066, he became the king of England William I, and since then JERSEY remains faithful to the English Crown. "The live legend" - presentation costing many million pounds sterling with special effects - recreates drama history of inhabitants of the island.

But not only the history attracts here tourists. On JERSEY the Eric Young's Orchids fund which has gained the international recognition was founded: the orchids of rare beauty grown up here were awarded praises around the world. On Jersey also there is a Zoo of a world class - the unique faunistic reserve founded by Gerald Darrell where conditions for free reproduction of wild animals and birds are created. The zoo is also headquarters of Trust of preservation of the wild nature of Darrell, the world organization which is engaged in preservation and cultivation in bondage of gorillas, orangutans and lemurs.
