GEOGRAPHY

Burkina Faso is approximately translated as "the country of honest people". Really, locals - the sociable and hospitable people always ready to laughter, and the invitation of guests "on a coffee cup" - one of tourist "trademarks" of the country especially as coffee here are able to cook in nearly 30 ways and is very qualitative.

 Ouagadougou (or Uaga), standing at the intersection of several ancient trade routes, is rather big country town, than the megalopolis. The central part of the capital is insignificant and easily manages on foot for one and a half-two hour. In Ouagadougou there are no special monuments, but the capital doesn't test a lack of various epic monuments and majestic buildings of various eras, here surprisingly there are a lot of wide shady boulevards, the soft atmosphere and rather clean air. Unlike many other cities sahelya, Ouagadougou is occupied, in the majority, not Muslims that is brightly reflected in his life - in it many restaurants, bars and night clubs.

Surely it is necessary to visit and the National Museum which else is in process of development, but the entrance is already possible. Here traditional masks, pieces of pottery, other ritual accessories of the main ethnic groups of the country are shown.

The cathedral located about the Palace of Moro-Naba, is the biggest church in the Western Africa. The large market of Ouagadougou being in the downtown and having a set of big decorative turrets on top of a facade, also costs visit. About Moro-Naba Palace every Friday many centuries are spent colourful ceremony of "false departure of the emperor" which in a symbolical form represents fight of the empire Mosi against external enemies.

Bobo-Diulaso being in 300 km. to the South from Ouagadougou - "capital" of the people of a bean, is less and more modestly, than the country capital, but has the same "air" boulevards seated by trees of the street and glamour markets. The provincial Museum in the building of Sudanese style has two sets of exhibitions; constantly carried out exposition of modern African art, batic and sculpture, and regular exhibition of traditional art of the people of the West African region.

Most impressive of Bobo-Diulaso's buildings - The big Mosque constructed of clay in traditional Sudanese style, and the most interesting by the internal finishing which can be examined for a small payment. The old area Kibidvi is full of craft workshops, mainly potter's and forge and costs separate attention.

Banfora is only two main streets with petrol filling station, bank and two hotels, but it as well a basic point for travel to Karfiguel's falls - rare in these parts to the phenomenon.

Falls are interesting all year, but really strike imagination during a rainy season. The picturesque rock of Dam-de-Karfiguela located near falls, is a good place for survey and falls and all adjacent territory.

In ten kilometers from falls lake Tegreakute, a pleasant place lies to stop and have a rest on a nature bosom. On thousands kilometers from here "the whistling silence" as local nomads characterize the desert, mainly tuaregs "blue people of the desert" extensively lasts.

The market Gore-Gore, undoubtedly, the most colourful and interesting in Burkina Faso, if not in everything сахеле. Not to find such mixture of the various people and ethnic groups, most likely, more anywhere in Africa. There are shepherds-tuaregi in indigo clothes, shepherds-peule and farmers-songkhay in bright yellow and red turbans, women peyle  in brightly painted "bubu" (a special type of a uniform from dense, but the light fabric which is perfectly protecting from a heat), wattled baskets of all styles and difficult hairdresses of local women of fashion, big silver and gold curved earrings everywhere flash. People wear the ornated leather belts and the silver weapon. And all variety of the local food and craft of the desert is exposed on a public inspection for sale.

Vahigua  - the typical city of Burkina Faso. Many come here for pilgrimage to a local mosque in commemoration of the termination of Ramadan, Mason-du-Naba-Kango, the royal palace of governors of the kingdom of Yatengo is here too located.

THE INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT BURKINA FASO

In the village Saba in the African state of Burkina Faso there is a pond with "manual" sacred crocodiles. Locals overfeed them chicken meat, and those quietly allow them and tourists to drag themselves for a tail and to sit on the back.

At the coat of arms of Burkina Faso from 1984 to 1997 there was a Kalashnikov.

ETHNIC CUISINE OF BURKINA FASO

The basis of cuisine of Burkina Faso is made by meat, game and fish dishes. Special delicacy isn't present. Meat dishes on a grill which give with a tomato and onions sauce are most popular.
